The renowned Disko Bay region of West Greenland is justly famous for its magnificent scenery, its enormous icebergs and majestic glaciers providing wonderful photographic opportunities. This week long voyage sails from Ilulissat around the bay, taking in many islands, fjords, impressive bird colonies and places of historical interest, before returning to Ilulissat.

The vast, iceberg-dotted expanse of Disko Bay, 300 km north of the Arctic Circle, is an impressive sight to behold. It is here that the most productive glacier in the northern hemisphere advances up to 30 meters a day, calving icebergs the size of cathedrals, into the deep blue sea.

Excursions by rigid-hulled inflatable boats or Zodiacs, ensure close encounters with many of the sea bird populations that thrive here. They also permit access among the icebergs otherwise impossible from the ship, allowing the best possible photographic opportunities. Some interesting examples of Thule culture and other historical sites are also visited.
